Records Storage
Records Retention receives and stores only inactive and permanent records from CNM departments until final disposition according to State and Federal retention requirements. Examples include personnel files, purchase orders, grade books or surveys. Records Destruction
Records are destroyed by Records Retention according to State and Federal guidelines when legal requirements are met. All public records must be approved for destruction by the Records and Property Control Department and by the State Commission of Public Records. Please refer to the State Retention Schedules for further reference available on-line in The Source.

Shredding Services
If a department has obsolete records which are deemed confidential or sensitive, or copies of non-records, a special request for shredding may be sent to the Records Retention Center. The records will be transferred to the State Records Center for destruction.
Consulting Services
Records Retention provides consulting services to departments on filing systems and records retention requirements and Property Control.
