Regular Part-time Instructors for Instructional Pool in HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (Number of openings dependent upon student enrollment/hiring for part-time pool)
Pay dependent upon class assignment and degree held.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Selected candidates report to the Health Information Technology program director and the associate dean for Business Management. Responsibilities include: teaching ICD-9 and CPT Coding and Medical Terminology, assisting in administering a systematic curriculum for students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve entry-level competency, advising current students regarding their performance, sharing in advising prospective students on the academic and professional aspects of the program, assessing course effectiveness, reviewing curriculum and assisting with textbook selection, participating in professional and informal learning activities to enhance personal and professional development, serving on department teams, and other related duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: CCS credential for ICD-9 and CCS-P for CPT and three years practitioner experience, demonstrated knowledge of subject area and Microsoft Word, and Internet. Ability to relate to and instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population. PREFERENCES: Bachelor’s degree or higher and teaching experience at the community college level and experience in distance learning. WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings and weekends as assigned based on instructional needs or distance learning. DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon approval.
