Position:  Regular Full-time Technical Support Supervisor

Pay Rate:  $ 35,132

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the PC Server & Support Manager, supervises Technical Support Specialists (TSS’s) and performs complex and difficult technical support work. Coordinates and monitors daily work load of TSS’s to provide timely and appropriate problem resolution. Identifies recurring and potential problems and recommends appropriate controls. Evaluates training needs and arranges for or conducts training to ensure TSS’s maintain currency in desktop technology. Maintains communication with users to ensure quality customer service. Co-manages with Desktop Administrator and Technical Support Specialists, the desktop environment including Microsoft operating system and client based desktop/server applications; assists in developing and implementation of network desktop standards.  Serves on related teams to plan and coordinate projects such as design of new or upgraded facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, and four (4) years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledgeable in: standard industry concepts, practices and procedures in maintaining multiple desktop systems within a large network environment; Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite and WAN integration methods; network protocols such as TCP/IP.  Must have the ability to: install, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair hardware and software currently in use (network applications; Internet; Ethernet applications and related network hardware; network utilities and device drivers). Skilled in interaction with a diverse group of people; effective presentation of information to managers, clients, customers and the general public; preparing and writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Requires solid organizational and project management skills; strong written and oral and communication skills, including the ability to communicate and translate technical terminology to non-technical users and management.

PREFERENCES: Bachelor degree and one year supervisory experience.

WORK SCHEDULE:  This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of forty hours per week, normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Travel between CNM’s sites is required. Flexibility in scheduling and occasional additional time may be required to meet the needs of the College.
