FINANCIAL AID DEPARTMENT


Position:  Regular Full-time Financial Aid Advisor

Pay Rate:  $35,132 annually

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Advises students; determines levels of eligibility. Prepares reports for financial aid programs; processes applications and supporting documents for student participation in grant, loan, and student employee programs; conducts required loan counseling sessions for students; maintains contact with various federal, state, and local agencies as directed. Responds to requests for information and assistance from students, staff, governmental agencies, and general public. Performs data entry and retrieval of student financial aid data and other duties as assigned. Conducts presentations and training sessions.  Leads satisfactory academic progress appeal committee.  Supervises front-desk operation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor degree and one year directly related experience in financial aid student services or other related area. Ability to relate to and interact with a non-traditional, diverse student and employee population.

PREFERENCES: 

Two years directly related financial aid experience. Community college experience. Experience working with Federal tax forms.  Proficiency with interactive computerized student database.  Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and accurately prepare financial aid applications, statements, and documents. Working knowledge of standard office machines including computers. Effective oral and written communication skills.  Experience in: group presentation; working with diverse populations. 

WORK SCHEDULE:  

Exempt position requiring a minimum of forty hours per week; normally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday; however, a minimum of one evening per week will be required. This position is currently based at Main Campus, however; changes in location can occur depending on the needs of the College.
