FINANCIAL AID DEPARTMENT


Position:  Regular Full-time Student Financial Aid Technician III

Pay Rate:  $12.33 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for daily activities of assigned financial aid programs.  Coordinates with staff and outside agencies to insure compliance with applicable regulations and institutional polices as related to the assigned programs.  Counsels students and processes their applications and supporting documentation for participation in financial aid programs.  Insures applications are in compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.  Assists in determining levels of financial aid eligibility; evaluates student academic records for satisfactory academic progress to determine continuing eligibility for financial aid programs; reviews and approves continued eligibility for financial aid programs and applications for financial aid deferments. Utilizes student database for entering and accessing data.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a post secondary office occupations, accounting, or business administration certificate program or equivalent, and two years related experience required; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Related associate’s degree and community college experience preferred.  Ability to relate to and interact with a non-traditional diverse employee and student population. 

PREFERENCES:  Working knowledge of financial aid programs or a related field. Requires effective and courteous communication skills with diverse populations and the ability to exercise considerable judgment, tact, and initiative in responding to requests for information and assistance from students, staff, governmental agencies, and the general public. Ability to operate standard office machines such as typewriter, copier, calculator, and computer; to perform data entry and retrieval; and to perform at a high level of accuracy and detail.

WORK SCHEDULE: Forty (40) hours per week.  The office is normally open Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm.  Work schedule may vary to meet the needs of the college.  During peak periods office hours may extend to include evening and Saturdays.  This position is currently located at the Westside Campus; however, position relocation could occur depending on the needs of the college.
