Position:  Regular Part-time Instructors for Instructional Pool in the COSMETOLOGY

Pay Rate:  Paid by the course according to the educational level of the instructor

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instruction of one or more courses at South Valley campus; office hours for each course taught at the campus hosting the course; meet administrative deadlines as assigned by the department or institute; attendance at required meetings.

Responsible for developing and teaching didactic material in classroom and laboratory settings.  Responsible for oversight of students in laboratory and/or clinical settings, and maintaining student hour documentation for the NM Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the Cosmetology Service industry.  Must have Post-secondary education in Cosmetology and a current NMBBC Instructor’s licensure.  Ability to relate to and instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population.

PREFERENCES:         

• Thorough knowledge of NMBBC requirements.

• Computer literacy.

• Demonstrated working knowledge of current developments in the field.

• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate an organized plan of instruction.

• Demonstrated ability to relate and explain complex subject matter at the community college student level.

• Current community college experience.

WORK SCHEDULE: Schedule may include, days, evenings, and/or weekends, as assigned and as needed on a term-by-term basis.

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  Upon approval.
