Regular Full-time Instructor, Department of Philosophy, Humanities & Religion
Nine (9) month contract, Two (2) semesters of teaching; $42,772 with Master’s degree; $45,133 with Ph.D.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching load of 15 credits per term in spring and fall at assigned campuses; five office hours per week; meet administrative deadlines; attend required meetings; participate in professional development activities, assessment activities and committee work; develop and review curriculum; maintain contact with instructional dean; and other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree minimum in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or interdisciplinary humanities departments. Minimum of four semesters of post-secondary teaching in religious studies or philosophy within the previous five years. Demonstrated ability to instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population. PREFERENCES: - Demonstrated working knowledge of current issues, trends, and developments in the field of philosophy or religious studies.
- Additional years teaching interdisciplinary humanities, world religion, or philosophy.
- Experience with course loads of at least 9 credit hours per term.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a combination of world religion, philosophy, or interdisciplinary humanities courses.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching methods including lecture, collaborative learning, and individualized instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with student success initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to relate and explain complex subject matter to first- and second-year college students.
- Experience with technology-based/supported instruction.
- Experience teaching distance learning courses via WebCT/Blackboard.
- Familiarity with outcomes assessment measures.
- Experience with multicultural faculty and student populations.
WORK SCHEDULE: Instruction of fifteen (15) contact hours per week at assigned campuses; five office hours per week; ten (10) additional on campus hours per week. DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon approval.
