Position:  Regular Part-time MATH TUTOR—Pool (936-hours/year)

Pay Rate:  $10.96 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duty is individual and group tutoring of students in the Tutorial/Learning Center.  Other duties may include conducting study groups; assisting in maintaining and circulating audio visual and software materials; providing point-of-use guidance to users in selecting materials to fit their individual learning needs.  Other responsibilities are: participating in required tutor training sessions per term or term break; staying current with CNM’s texts, materials, and policies; and providing supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor.  Team or Task Force participation is encouraged as well as participation in CNM opportunities for professional growth and development.  Participation in the New Mexico Education Retirement Act (NMERA) is required of each CNM employee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  Successful completion of 30-hours of post-secondary course work required to include Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III (statistics may be substitued for Calculus III) or equivalent.  Ability to relate to and instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population.

 

PREFERENCES:  Working knowledge of similar tutoring programs; preference will be given to applicants with the full calculus sweep plus statistics; experience as a tutor or teacher of adult learners; computer literacy; College Reading and Learning (CRLA) or equivalent certification or tutor training.  Ability to relate one-to-one and in small groups utilizing a variety of tutorial methods; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and human relation skills with a diverse population.

WORK SCHEDULE: Twenty (20) hours per week during the hours of 7 am - 9:30 pm, Mon - Thur; 7am - 5 pm, Fri, 8 am – 5 pm,& Sat.  May be required to work multiple campuses.
