Position:  Regular Part-time instructors for Faculty Pool in Adult Education English as a Second Language (ESL) (Number of openings dependent upon student enrollment)

Pay Rate:  Dependent upon degree earned and class assignment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Teach Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced or Multi-level English as a Second Language (ESL) classes; integrate computer applications and/or laboratory-based instruction as appropriate to curricula; perform related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours in a combination of the following areas (no more than (9) hours in one (1) area):  linguistics, English, teaching English as a Second Language, language development, curriculum development in multi-cultural education.  One (1) year (full-time or equivalent) teaching or tutoring adults in an Adult Education secondary or postsecondary level.  Additional related experience may be substituted for coursework.  Ability to use a variety of teaching methods. Working knowledge of current philosophy and teaching practices in the field.  Effective oral and written skills.  Working knowledge of word processing software, email, and computer-assisted instruction. Ability to relate to and instruct a non traditional, diverse student population.  

PREFERENCES:  Master’s degree or higher in related field.  Bilingual community college experience.

WORK SCHEDULE:  Assignment based on instructional needs.  Day and evening, including weekend, classes may be assigned at any CNM campus.

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  Upon approval.
