“I can’t begin to say how honored I am,” Brulé said. “It’s not something I take lightly. It’s an opportunity for all of us.”
The Annie E. Casey Foundation seeks people who are dedicated to helping low-income families succeed. The fellowship is designed to have participants broaden their vision on what can be accomplished while increasing their skills and networks.
Brulé will spend 18 months meeting with a variety of people from politicians to leaders of organizations such as the Gates Foundation and the Clinton Foundation. She said she knows this opportunity will help CNM continue its goal of retaining and graduating students because she will be able to meet people who have overcome major obstacles to make positive changes.
