CNM is a Pioneer in Online Advisement
CNM – which is the only postsecondary institution in the state and one of very few nationwide that is offering students academic advisement online in real-time – presented its pioneering program to other two- and four-year colleges at the National Academic Advising Association’s annual conference in Phoenix on May 14-16.
CNM’s online advisement service allows advisors to communicate in real-time with current or prospective students through an online interface. The program, which began a year ago, allows the advisor and the student to share control of each other’s computer desktops.
An advisor can take control of the student’s cursor and guide them to websites or other online information that can help answer their inquiry. Students report a very high satisfaction rate with the service, since it provides an alternative to long lines or driving long distances to seek advisement.
CNM also presented the groundbreaking program at the state’s annual academic advisement conference in March. The Albuquerque Tribune wrote about the program in its April 3 edition.
