Brulé Named to Governor's Task Force

CNM Foundation Director Appointed to Poverty Reduction Task Force

Robin Brulé, CNM Foundation executive director, has been appointed to Gov. Bill Richardson’s Poverty Reduction Task Force. The task force will develop specific recommendations for legislative, regulatory and infrastructure initiatives to reduce poverty and income inequality in New Mexico. A range of issues will be addressed by Brulé and other members of the task force members, including easing access to higher education and assisting former prisoners in finding employment.

“I look forward to working with other members of the task force to address the issues of poverty and income inequality in our state,” said Brulé. “The CNM Foundation recognizes that many of our own CNM students are attempting to provide better opportunities for themselves and their families through education. Access to education and working to provide opportunities for those families is vital to our state’s economic development’s well-being.”

According to recent government figures, 37 million American and 350,000 New Mexicans are living below the official poverty threshold. The gap between rich and poor is at historic levels and many full time jobs do not pay enough to raise employees out of poverty.
