Central New Mexico Community College will join with more than a thousand other colleges and universities across the country to host a live webcast called
“The 2% Solution,” which will serve as an interactive forum for discussions on how the United States and other developed countries can reduce carbon emissions by two percent per year for the next 40 years.
You can participate in the webcast by voting via cell phone for your favorite proposals. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30 in Jeannette Stromberg Hall on CNM’s Main Campus, Room 311, in the J Building at Montoya Campus, Room 124, or in Westside II, Meeting Room 115.
The sponsor of the program is Focus the Nation, an organization devoted to fighting global warming. Organizers hope to engage educators, students, civic leaders, members of faith communities and elected officials in discussions about the most important steps that the country should be taking to combat global warming.
On January 31, a national “Teach-In” about the issue of climate change will take place and CNM instructors are being encouraged to explore the topic in their classrooms.
