Matier has provided outstanding leadership for CNM’s TAX HELP New Mexico program, which provides free tax preparation for senior citizens and those who earn $39,000 or less annually. The program, which originated at CNM, has expanded throughout the state. This past tax season, TAX HELP New Mexico served 24,967 New Mexicans and helped return more than $20 million in tax refunds to the state’s economy. The program has been praised by the Internal Revenue Service, which uses it as a model for other states seeking to implement similar programs.
Matier also recently graduated from Leadership Albuquerque, which is operated through the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. The Leadership Albuquerque program is designed to encourage community leaders to make a difference in the Albuquerque community’s economic health and quality of life.
