Workforce Training Center, OSHA Team Up for Workplace Safety

Howard Gentry of New Mexico’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) bureau will provide valuable information about how to improve workplace safety and how to avoid the state’s most common workplace safety violations on Wednesday at an event co-hosted by Central New Mexico Community College and the New Mexico Environment Department.

The “Summer Safety Seminar,” which coincides with June being National Safety Month, will take place at CNM’s Workforce Training Center (5600 Eagle Rock NE, Albuquerque) from 4-6 p.m. The event is free and open to the business community.

The event will also celebrate a new alliance between CNM and the NMED. The two organizations will collaborate to provide training and educational opportunities in an effort to improve safety conditions at workplaces across New Mexico.

Three nationally recognized safety experts in the CNM Workforce Training Center Safety Academy – Margo Maher, a national award-winning safety expert who is a licensed National Weapons of Mass Destruction Standardized Awareness Authorized Trainer, Janet Kerley, a master’s level Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, and David Paoletta, a senior safety consultant with PNM – will also talk about safety topics in their fields of expertise.

Gentry will also discuss the top 10 citations issued by OSHA.

This safety seminar will be a valuable resource for New Mexico businesses dedicated to making their workplaces as safe as possible. For more information or to register for the seminar, call the CNM Workforce Training Center at 224-5212.
