New 9-Week Computer Coding Bootcamp Leads to Quality Jobs in High-Demand Field
The 9-week bootcamp, called "Deep Dive Coding," will be the first of its kind to be available at a public institution of higher education. The first bootcamp begins Aug. 11.
CNM is accepting applicants now for the program, a well-tested, proven and accelerated bootcamp that prepares students for high-tech web development, software development and computer programming jobs that are in high demand in Albuquerque and across the country. This field was ranked No. 1 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for current and future job prospects – and the Bureau of Labor Statistics has predicted that before the year 2022, nearly 140,000 new positions in this field will be created.
At the STEMulus Center, students will attend the bootcamp 40 hours per week for nine weeks, graduating at the end of the nine weeks with the skills that make them coveted by companies near and far. Students will work on projects developed by employers and finish the bootcamp with an impressive portfolio of work. The bootcamp also coaches students on how to market themselves to employers or launch their own business.
Deep Dive Coding was previously a successful private-sector model that has been adapted for use at CNM, making CNM the first institution of higher education in the country to offer this type of intensive computer coding program in a highly accelerated format. Every graduate of Deep Dive Coders to date has gained employment in the field, at an average starting salary of $44,000 per year in the Albuquerque area. In areas of the country where the cost of living is higher, the average salary increases proportionately.
The CNM STEMulus Center, located in the heart of Downtown in the First Plaza Galleria, is being strategically designed to support the region’s workforce and economic needs by accelerating education so that some of the key gaps in the workforce are addressed sooner rather than later, which is paramount for the region’s economic prospects and quality of life.
