Alternative Teacher Licensure Program Application Form

This form serves as your official application to the CNM Alternative Teacher Licensure Program. 

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and will be screened within 14 business days of receipt of a completed application. Applications and supporting documents must be turned in by the application deadline.

Only complete applications will be reviewed.

High Need Areas: CNM strives to fill the needs of area schools by giving priority to candidates who are qualified to teach in designated high need areas.  We are currently recruiting teachers in the areas of special education, secondary math and science, and bilingual elementary.

Cohorts will begin in Fall, Spring and Summer terms.

Complete applications received by 5pm April 23, 2015 will be given priority consideration for Summer 2015 admission.

Complete applications received by 5pm August 6, 2015 will be given priority consideration for Fall 2015 admission.

Complete applications received by 5pm November 30, 2015 will be given prority consideration for Spring 2015 admission.

License(s) you are seeking   Note that you must have sufficient coursework for the area(s) you are considering. You will need to submit a Transcript Analysis Form (Part 2 of this application) for each licensure area you select.
Date of Earned Bachelor's Degree   Please list the month/year you completed your bachelor's degree. You can leave the date as "1" if unknown.

Education Coursework   Have you previously taken college courses in Education? NOTE: Previous Education coursework can only be considered if completed within the last 5 years, and is 300 level or above.


New Mexico Teacher Assessment (NMTA) Exams   November 15, 2014 was the last time NMTA exams were administered. Have you taken any NMTA exams within the last 10 years? If yes, you will be required to provide your exam scores in order for your application to be considered for admissions.


National Evaluation Series (NES) Essential Academic Skills exams If you have not taken or passed the NMTA Basic Skills exam, passing score on the NES Essential Academic Skills - Subtest I: Reading, Subtest II: Writing and Subtest III: Mathematics is required to apply to the ATL Program. Please indicate when you have registered to take these exams.

I understand that any false statements, misrepresentations or omissions made by me on my application or during the application process shall be grounds for refusal to be admitted to CNM's ATL Program.
I understand that submission of this application and meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
I understand that completion of CNM's ATL Program does not guarantee employment.
I understand that a complete application includes this application form, a Transcript Analysis Form, and results of passing the NMTA Basic Skills exam. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

After you complete this form, be sure to do the following:

1) Have all your transcripts submitted to the CNM Records Office. Your application cannot be processed until all transcripts are on file. When CNM receives your transcript, you will receive an email to your CNM email account. If you do not receive this email after 1 week, contact the Records Office to confirm whether the transcript was received.

2) Submit a Transcript Analysis Form for either Elementary/Special Education or Secondary Education.
