High School Equivalency (HSE) Program and Learning Lab

Learn about the HSE program and prepare for the GED or HiSET exams at the free HSE Learning Lab, May 18 to August 7.

The HSE Program

Registration

  • After filling out an application to the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program, you will register for classes based on scores from the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). You will receive instructions to schedule TABE testing after your application is processed.
  • You are encouraged to take classes in multiple subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, depending on your test scores.
  • There is a $10 registration fee per term. This fee can be waived if you are experiencing financial hardship.

Class Offerings and Schedule

Classes are offered online and in-person at multiple CNM campuses.

  • In-person classes are scheduled twice per week for twelve weeks each academic term.
  • Online classes are asynchronous (delivered without scheduled times) on a twelve week schedule each academic term.
  • There are no scheduled meeting days or times for online classes. This means you can work on the material when your schedule allows as long as you meet deadlines and required learning hours.

About the Free HSE Learning Lab

What

The HSE Learning Lab is a welcoming drop‑in study space where you can:  

  • Prepare for the GED or HiSET exam 
  • Use online learning tools and resources to build your skills 
  • Get individualized support from an experienced instructor 
  • Learn at your own speed—no pressure, no grades 

You are welcome to study all HSE subject areas, including Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. Study materials are available for every subject.

  • Dates: May 18 to August 7, Mondays - Fridays 
  • Time: 9 a.m. to Noon / 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (drop-in anytime) 
  • Location: CNM South Valley Campus, SV2 Building, Room 102

  • Already a student in the CNM Adult Basic Education high school equivalency program? Just show up to the lab! 
  • If you’re new to CNM, please stop by any CNM campus to complete an ABE application and pay the $10 ABE program fee. We’ll get you started.
