Fall Term Has Started, But Many Late-start Classes Still Available

CNM’s Fall Term started Sept. 3, but it’s still not too late to register for classes. CNM offers hundreds of late-start classes, including many 10-week classes. If you know somebody who could benefit from a CNM education, please encourage them to register and begin their journey to a brighter future. Visit cnm.edu to view programs and courses or call 505-224-3000 for more information.

CNM Welcomes Native American Community Academy to Main Campus

CNM recently welcomed the Native American Community Academy (NACA) and its high school students to their new home – the new Education Collaborative Building (EC) on Main Campus. NACA held a public blessing ceremony at the building before the first day of classes commenced on Aug. 19 for NACA, an Albuquerque Public Schools charter school. The EC Building began construction 18 months ago. In addition to NACA, the building is also the new home for the College & Career High School, a dual credit high school launched by CNM and Albuquerque Public Schools in 2013, and CNM’s Teacher Education and Early Childhood Multicultural Education programs. This innovative CNM-APS partnership and the 80,000-square-foot facility mark an encouraging milestone for the future of education in Albuquerque and New Mexico. Construction is still continuing on the exterior of the building. The official grand opening celebration for the building will be held Oct. 10.

Know Somebody Interested in Teaching? Scholarships Open for Teacher Ed Programs

In support of the growing need for highly-trained educators in our state, CNM is now offering two new Teacher Education scholarship programs, which are supported by the New Mexico Higher Education Department. The Grow Your Own Teachers Scholarship (GYOT) encourages educational assistants employed at a public school to get enrolled in a New Mexico Public Education Department approved teacher prep program at CNM. The GYOT covers tuition, fees, and other educational-related expenses. The Teacher Preparation Affordability Scholarship encourages eligible New Mexico students to attend and complete an accredited PED-approved teacher prep program at CNM. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, and other educational related expenses for students who are enrolled at least half-time in a teacher prep program. For more info, call 505-224-3140.
