Campus Safety Protocols

All students, faculty, and staff must follow COVID-19 safety protocols while on campus.

If You Test Positive for COVID-19 or Are Displaying Symptoms

  • You will be asked not to visit any CNM campus or location
  • Security will be instructed not to allow you on campus
  • Your key card will be deactivated (if you are an employee)

On May 3, in an effort to ease into on-campus operations safely, CNM will begin our Return to Campus initiative with a 25% capacity limit for students, staff, and faculty. As conditions continue to improve, we hope to increase capacity to 50% later in the summer.

To help keep everyone at CNM safe, our community will be required to strictly follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines below.

Students

COVID-19 Symptom Checking: You are required to submit a Health Self-Assessment Checklist online before coming to campus.

Face Coverings: You're required to wear a face-covering on campus. Your nose and mouth need to be covered at all times. If you do not have a face covering, CNM will provide you with a disposable one when you arrive on campus.

Social Distancing: You must maintain at least six feet of distance from others at all times. Failure to maintain social distancing of six feet may result in dismissal from the learning activity. CNM bathrooms are also subject to social distancing. Please note: If you are in a program where human-to-human contact is required, you will receive specific instructions regarding safety procedures.

Hallways: Please be mindful of arrows on floors and doors. There may be specific doors dedicated to entering, others for exiting. Read any posted signs on doors or in walkways for information about pathways and traffic flow. Do not gather in hallways or sit on floors and other surfaces.

Sharing: Please be sure you have everything needed for class before you leave for campus. You should not be sharing books, computers, pens, paper, food, beverages, or any other physical items.

Avoid Gathering After Class: After your class is over, please avoid mingling with other students, faculty, or staff and leave the campus promptly in order to further reduce the risk of spread.

Travel: We strongly discourage any travel out of state. If you choose to travel out of state, be prepared to follow any state guidelines for quarantine upon return.

Faculty

COVID-19 Symptom Checking: Complete the Health Self-Assessment Checklist before coming on campus. Stay home and make arrangements for a substitute if you are feeling sick. Ensure students have completed the student Health Self-Assessment Checklist and have received notice that they are approved to come on campus.

Attendance: Take attendance each period. Keep records of any groups/pairs the students form in case there's a need for contact tracing.

Face Coverings: You're required to wear a face-covering when on campus. Your nose and mouth need to be covered at all times. If you do not have a face covering, a disposable one will be provided. Be sure each student is wearing a face-covering over their nose and mouth. Offer a face mask to any student who needs one. Contact the Dean of Students if you have concerns.

Social Distancing: You must maintain at least six feet of distance from others at all times. Monitor the classroom/lab area to ensure that students are following social distancing guidelines. Desks/workstations are to remain as arranged. They have been set up to adhere to a minimum of six feet of social distancing. Ensure students working in pairs wear face shields, in addition to their face coverings.

Cleanliness and Sanitation: Remind students to disinfect any shared or loaned tools before and after each class, as well as work stations. Ensure there is hand sanitizer and order more if needed.

Additional Signage: Contact your administration or the Physical Plant Department if signage for safety practices (handwashing, face covering, distancing) is needed.
