French Placement Exam

The French exam consists of 25 multiple-choice questions. The exam does not give you credit for any French course, but is used to determine course placement depending on the skill level of the student. Please note, all French courses have a prerequisite or co-requisite of IRW 0980.

About the French Exam

  • Completely free
  • Test scores are valid for one year
  • Scores of 21 or higher will place students into French 1120; scores lower than that, will place students into French 1110.
  • The exam is given at any CNM Assessment Center on a walk-in basis except the South Valley Campus

Requirements

  • Photo ID
  • There is a 24 hour waiting period to retest
  • Students may only test twice in a 12 month period
