The 7th Annual CNM Conference on Teaching and Learning: January 11, 2019

Are you interested in collaborating with your peers from around New Mexico and the four corners? Would you like to attend a conference that is hosted and presented by local colleagues, focused on our unique needs and challenges, yet also representing the highest standards in educational quality and innovative teaching practices? If so, we invite you to join join two-year institutions from New Mexico and the Southwest for a day of professional development in an atmosphere of collegiality, sharing, and teaching excellence.

Date

The conference will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa in Albuquerque, NM.

Goals

The purpose of the conference is to provide high-quality, relevant professional development in teaching and learning to faculty at 2-year institutions of higher education. Conference sessions will promote the best classroom practices that result in optimal outcomes for our students. The conference will enable the regional community of two-year higher education faculty to build faculty collegiality in a professional environment and to create networking and partnership opportunities among the represented schools.

This year’s thematic focus, Meeting Students’ Needs (& Ours, Too!), reflects our interest in supporting students in a time of rapid change in higher education, as well as a recognition of the importance of self-care and building a collegial community across the region.

The morning keynote speaker will be Heather McGowan. Recognized as the 2017 #1 global voice for Education on LinkedIn media network, Heather McGowan is an internationally known speaker, writer, and thought leader. Read more...

Access the Conference Program

During the conference day, multiple concurrent sessions will address the future of work and learning, wellness inside and outside of the classroom, professionalism and soft skills, and a variety of topics in teaching and learning, including active learning and student engagement, digital pedagogy, diversity, distance learning, and other topics related to best practices in teaching adults at the community college. The presenters come from CNM and several other institutions in New Mexico and Arizona, with more than 1/3 of the sessions presented by faculty and staff from outside of CNM. As much as the venue allows, sessions will model an educational culture and philosophy promoting small group, workshop-style sessions. 

Conference Cost

Registration fees for the one-day event will be $199, including conference materials, catered breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. Conference registration will close on Dec. 20, 2018.
