Faculty Development Resources

The purpose of faculty development is to engage in continual learning and improvement, towards the goal of increasing student success.  The CTL wishes to foster a culture of teaching and learning where individuals recognize and build on their strengths in the classroom while also looking for new or untried ways to support all students in the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Explore these resources. If you can't find something that meets your needs, or if you have ideas and resources to contribute, let us know at ctl@cnn.edu.

Magna Electronic Resources

Magna Campus is an on-demand, online digital library of professional development resources for college faculty and administrators. If you are off campus and prompted to login, use your CNM credentials. Please email ctl@cnm.edu immediately if you have any problem accessing the resources through the links provided below.

CNM's Magna Campus subscription is comprised of the following components:

  • Live Seminars
Magna Online Seminars are live and interactive events that address critical issues facing higher education today.  They feature leading educators delivering content-rich presentations. Visit the CTL Calendar for upcoming sessions.
  • Archived Magna Live Seminars
Access recorded seminars for 1 year after broadcast. Watch your CNM email for archived links from the CTL.
  • 20-Minute Mentor Commons

  • The Teaching Professor newsletter
The Teaching Professor is a lively, practical newsletter with a singular purpose: to provide ideas and insights to educators who are passionate about teaching. Published 10 times a year, The Teaching Professor is the newsletter that puts teaching and learning front and center. Each issue explores the topics that instructors confront every day in the classroom. It raises the questions on everyone’s minds, and it presents solutions that just about anyone can use regardless of discipline.  The Teaching Professor is not an esoteric publication. It is practical and packed with accessible strategies and techniques you can employ immediately.  Additionally, the archive of The Teaching Professor is fully searchable by keyword, putting years of ideas and insights quickly at your fingertips.
