Welcome to Faculty Focus Day 2017!

Faculty Focus Day is an opportunity for CNM faculty to benefit from a wide range of professional development and training opportunities that may not be accessible during the busy weeks of the term. This year the CTL, in cooperation with departments across CNM as well as outside organizations, has created a diverse program of more than 60 different sessions, offered throughout the day on Main Campus. Sessions cover a wide range of topics related to instruction and employment at CNM. Some of the sessions are offered twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon.

General Registration for Faculty Focus Day Is NOT Required

No general registration or sign-up for Faculty Focus Day is necessary, and there will be no central check-in area. Simply attend the sessions for which you pre-registered or open sessions that interest you throughout the day. Sign-in sheets will be provided on a table outside of each individual session; please sign-in before entering the room. You must sign-in at each session you attend to document your attendance.

Sessions That Recommend Pre-Registration

Most sessions do not require pre-registration, but pre-registration for seven individual sessions is recommended. Please see the session descriptions in the catalog to find out if there is a pre-registration option.

Follow these instructions to register for an individual session that recommends it:

  • Registration will close August 18, 2017 or when a session fills, whichever comes first.
  • Login to MyCNM.
  • Click on the “Employee” tab on the far right.
  • Under the “CNM Talent Management” section, click on “Employee Learning.”
  • Select “Browse for Training.”
  • Under the “Subject” heading on the left of the screen, click on “CTL-Faculty Training.” Find the “Faculty Focus Day 2017” event, locate and click on the title of the session you wish to attend, and then click on “Request.” This will register you for the session, and you will receive an email notification.  You will also receive a reminder two days prior to the event.

Limited spaces are available in sessions for which pre-registration is recommended. For these sessions that do not fill during the registration period, walk-in attendees will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis until each session reaches its maximum capacity.

Please Respect Session Room Capacities

Once a session room has reached capacity, the presenter will place a "Session Filled" sign on the door, and the session will be closed to further admittance. Please do not enter a room that has reached maximum capacity.

Breakfast

Breakfast burritos from the Frontier will be available while they last in the SRC Breezeway beginning shortly before 8:00 a.m. Burrito choices are 1) eggs, hash browns, cheese; 2) eggs, hash browns, green chile, cheese; 3) eggs, hash browns, bacon, green chile, cheese. Event Catalog

A link to the complete Faculty Focus Day 2017 Catalog is at the bottom of this page.  Due to its length, 38 pages, the CTL urges you not to print the document. The electronic PDF contains links to every session from the Table of Contents and the Schedule at a Glance, making the catalog easy to navigate and view on any mobile device. For your convenience, you may download and print the Event Planner to assist you in selecting your first, second, and third options for each time-slot. A limited number of printed catalogs will be available for viewing the day of the event but will not be distributed, so please plan accordingly by outlining your day in advance or bringing a mobile device of your choice to view the catalog online during the day. Additionally, QR Code images that link to the catalog on mobile devices will be posted in various locations across the campus.

Faculty Attendance Expectations

Faculty Focus Day is contractually required for full-time faculty.  Part-time faculty may be compensated, but you must consult with your dean about the possibility of compensation in advance of the event. Related questions should be directed to your dean.
