Faculty Focus Day 2018

FFD2018 Banner

Welcome to Faculty Focus Day 2018!

Faculty Focus Day is an opportunity for CNM faculty to benefit from a wide range of professional development and training opportunities that may not be accessible during the busy weeks of the term. This year the CTL, in cooperation with departments across CNM as well as outside organizations, has created a diverse program of 70 different sessions, offered throughout the day on Main Campus. The day is designed to provide training on topics such as technology, faculty resources, student resources, workplace safety, college initiatives, discipline-specific training, and teaching strategies.  Some sessions are offered twice, to make it easier for you to not miss a session you’re interested in.

Session Locations and Food/Beverage Service Locations

This year, due to the closure of the MS Building and intersession classes, Faculty Focus Day sessions will be held primarily in Smith Brasher (SB), the L Building, Jeanette Stromburg (JS) 301, and the SRC Technology Support and Training Center. There will be two 6-person golf carts available for anyone with mobility impairments who need a ride between buildings. If you do not see a golf cart near the entrance to your location, call Security Dispatch at 224-3302.

Morning breakfast burritos, coffee, tea, water, and lunch will be served in the Smith Brasher Lobby.

General Registration for Faculty Focus Day Is NOT Required

No general registration or sign-up for Faculty Focus Day is necessary, and there will be no central check-in area. Simply attend the sessions for which you pre-registered or open sessions that interest you throughout the day. Sign-in sheets will be provided on a table outside of each individual session; please sign-in before entering the room. Sign-in at each session you attend to document your attendance.

Sessions That Recommend Pre-Registration

Most sessions do not require pre-registration, but pre-registration for some lab sessions is recommended. Please see the session descriptions in the catalog to find out if there is a pre-registration option.

Follow these instructions to register for an individual session that recommends it:

  1. Registration will close August 17, 2018 or when a session fills, whichever comes first.
  2. Login to MyCNM.
  3. Click on the Employee link from the left-hand menu.
  4. Under the CNM Talent Management section in the lower right, click on Talent Management.
  5. Select Browse for Training
  6. Under the Subject heading on the left of the screen, click on CTL-Faculty Training. Find the Faculty Focus Day 2018 event, locate and click on the title of the session you wish to attend, and then click on Request. This will register you for the session, and you will receive an email notification.

For these sessions that do not fill during the registration period, walk-in attendees will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis until each session reaches its maximum capacity.

Please Respect Session Room Capacities

Once a session room has reached capacity, the presenter will place a "Session Filled" sign on the door, and the session will be closed to further admittance. Please do not enter a room that has reached maximum capacity.

Event Catalog

A link to the complete Faculty Focus Day 2018 Catalog is at the bottom of this page. Due to its length, 38 pages, and the possibility of last-minute updates, the CTL urges you not to print the document. The electronic PDF contains links to every session from the Table of Contents and the Schedule at a Glance, making the catalog easy to navigate and view on any mobile device. For your convenience, you may download and print the Event Planner to assist you in selecting your first, second, and third options for each time-slot.

A limited number of printed catalogs will be available for viewing the day of the event but will not be distributed, so please plan accordingly by outlining your day in advance or bringing a mobile device of your choice to view the catalog online during the day. Additionally, QR Code images that link to the catalog on mobile devices will be posted in various locations across the campus.
