Faculty Focus Day 2021

Faculty Focus Day (FFD) is an opportunity for CNM faculty and instructional staff to benefit from a wide range of professional development and training opportunities.

Faculty Focus Day August 26, 2021

Faculty Focus Day and CNM's First Racial Equity Summit

CNM’s 8th Annual Faculty Focus Day is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2021. Faculty Focus Day is an opportunity for CNM faculty and instructional staff to benefit from a wide range of professional development and training opportunities that may not be available during the busy weeks of the term.

The morning of Faculty Focus Day will be devoted to a Racial Equity Summit with speakers and sessions focused on racial equity, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. This summit is the result of collaboration between the CTL and Felecia Caton-Garcia, faculty member and CNM’s new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategist.  The summit is the culmination and reflection of efforts over the last several years of faculty, staff, and the CNM Equity Council.

We will begin the day with a plenary session with opening remarks and a keynote address. The morning breakout sessions, at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., represent a wide variety of topics to engage CNM faculty in exploring equity issues in higher education and the role of community colleges in either perpetuating or dismantling systemic racism. This summit is our portal into deeper conversations and the long-term commitment to practices, policies, and strategies that support equity for students and employees at CNM.

Afternoon sessions will include topics such as technology, faculty resources, student resources, college initiatives, discipline-specific training, and teaching strategies. Many departments across CNM welcome FFD as a chance to communicate with faculty about relevant information and programs.

The format for Faculty Focus Day this year will again be REMOTE, via Zoom, with the exception of three afternoon sessions that must be held in person on Main Campus, due to the content of the sessions (for example, training on how to use the Attend Anywhere classroom technology.)

Check your CNM email for the final catalog that includes all of the "live" session Zoom links.  It will be attached as a PDF in an email from the CTL on Wednesday and Thursday.  Instead of printing the catalog, use this FFD 2021 Event Planner to sketch out your day.
