CNM Students may be allowed to establish credit for courses based on life and work experience and/or prior training.
Note: Official CNM recognition of nontraditional credit is currently limited to the Emergency Medical Services program.
To receive nontraditional credit:
- Apply to become a CNM student. (Follow this link: http://www.cnm.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/how-to-be-a-cnm-student)
- Complete the Credit for Prior Learning form.
If transferring credit from another educational institution, bring all official transcripts to any Records or Enrollment Services Office.
Nontraditional Credit and the EMS Program
- Present the Credit for Prior Learning form plus a valid NM EMS license and/or NREMT certification and government issued photo ID to any Enrollment Services Office.
Any other state licenses or national certifications must be presented to the School of Health, Wellness & Public Safety for consideration of credit.
Again, please note that nontraditional credit is currently available in the EMS programs only. Contact your academic division to find out when recognition may be extended to programs similar to your prior certifications.
