Equipment Spend Categories

It is the policy of Central New Mexico Community College to process, capitalize, and inventory all equipment with values of $5,000 or greater; along with a few exceptions such as art, vehicles, computers, and equipment on loan to CNM.

Computers

  • All computers regardless of cost are required to be tagged.   
  • Computers with a cost of $5,000 or more should use SC0238 IT Equipment (= >$5k). 
  • Computers with a cost of $4,999 or less should use SC0233 IT Equipment - Non-Capital (<$5k).  
  • Computer related peripherals and equipment with a cost of $4999 or less should use SC0077 General Supplies.

Equipment

  • Equipment with a cost of $5,000 or more should use SC0183 Equipment, Furniture and Fixture (= >$5k). 
  • Equipment with a cost between $1,000 and $4,999 should use SC0076 Equipment, Furniture & Fixtures - Non-Capital ($1k-$5k). 
  • Equipment with a cost below $1,000 should use SC0077 General Supplies.

Vehicles

  • Vehicles with a cost of $5,000 or more should use SC0252 Motorized Equipment and Vehicles (= >$5K). 
  • Vehicles with a cost of $4,999 or less should use SC0251 Motorized Equipment and Vehicles (under $5K). 

Software

  • Licenses, subscriptions, or access to cloud-based software or platforms, regardless of cost, new or renewed should use SC0104 IT Licensing/Maintenance.
