Frequently Asked Questions about Leading the Way

Does United Way of Central New Mexico take any part of my donation for administrative fees, salaries?

As of 2016, United Way of Central New Mexico will be collecting a 10% administrative fee for every donation that they filter. This 10% will go towards building stronger initiatives for UWCNM, you can allocate your 10% to a UWCNM designated area or direct it toward their Community Fund.

If you donate directly to the CNM Foundation benefiting one of CNM's programs or scholarships, 100% of your donation will be directed to the designation of your choice.

What are the responsibilities of the Campaign Steering Committee, and who is on the committee?

A form that identifies the contributing employee and the beneficiary to which they wish to donate.

How does the payroll deduction method of donating work?

Your annual gift is incrementally deducted from your paycheck throughout the year. For example, if you give in the 2020 campaign, the pledge will be deducted from your bi-monthly check beginning in January 2021. Pledge payments will only be withdrawn from 24 pay periods. For part-time staff and instructors, payroll deduction is still possible through the payroll you have set up according to your schedule. Casual employees can participate by making a gift with cash, check, or charge.

What is a one-time gift?

A one-time donation given through the campaign by check, credit card, or cash.

Who provides a tax-deductible receipt for my donation?

If you give directly to the CNM Foundation, the CNM Foundation will provide your tax-deductible receipt. If you give to an outside organization with a pledge filtered through UWCNM, you will receive your tax receipt from UWCNM via email.

If you have any questions, please contact the CNM Foundation at (505) 224-4686.
