She is one of five regional CEOs of the Year that will be in consideration for the ACCT’s national CEO of the Year award that will be announced on Oct. 4.

The ACCT is an educational non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., that represents and supports the governing boards for more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges across the country and beyond.

The national CEO of the Year award will be presented during the 44th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress in Seattle, Wash., on Oct. 4.

Under President Winograd’s leadership, the number of students graduating from CNM has increased 208 percent from 2008-2013. She also led the implementation and development of an innovative student support model called “CNM Connect,” which has been emulated at colleges around the country. Her leadership on graduation initiatives and CNM Connect helped the college win the 2013 Student Success Award from the American Association of Community Colleges in April. In May, Dr. Winograd received the Spirit of Bipartisanship Award for Excellence in Education Policy from New Mexico First, a non-partisan public policy organization.

Dr. Winograd became president of CNM in July 2007. In 2009, CNM became the largest higher education institution in the state in terms of enrollment.
