Making Money Work (FIN 1010)

Any interested, qualified high school teacher, administrator or counselor can facilitate an online, Dual Credit financial literacy course at their high school and help New Mexico’s students graduate on the right foot. You will work directly with a CNM instructor to teach students real-life skills that will enable them to make informed financial decisions as they move on to college.

Program Highlights:

  • $500 compensation for all participating high school facilitators
  • Up to $750 classroom enhancement grant
  • No textbook is required
  • No prerequisites or Accuplacer scores required
  • Students earn elective credit in high school and college credit at CNM
  • Students meet the state graduation requirement

Facilitator Duties:

  • Work with students for three hours each week during the 12-week term in a computer lab
  • Oversee student admissions and enrollment process
  • Ensure students follow weekly assignment deadlines
  • Communicate with CNM instructor to provide support to students

  • Setting goals and budgeting
  • Paycheck deductions
  • Checking and saving accounts
  • Smart financing and establishing credit
  • Personal Income Taxes
  • Dangers of predatory lending
  • Retirement planning, life insurance and investments
