Meet the Job Connection Services Staff

Stacey Cooley, Job Connection Services Manager

Stacey Cooley works for Central New Mexico Community College as the Job Connection Services Manager, located at the Main Campus since 2015. Stacey’s other work experiences since being relocated by Job Corps/Department of Labor to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2005 includes 7 years at the Albuquerque Job Corps Center in the positions of Center Director, Social Development Director, Director of Training, and Director of Outreach/ Admissions/and Career Transition Services. Stacey also served as the Executive Director of the H.B. and Lucille Horn YMCA from 2012-2014.

Before moving to Albuquerque in 2005, Stacey’s other work experience includes 10 years at the Batesville Job Corps Center in Batesville, Mississippi as a School-to-Work Coordinator, Business and Community Liaison, and Director of Training/Career Transition Services. She also worked as a secondary English teacher in Bronson, Florida after immediately graduating with her BA degree from the University of Florida.

Born and raised in the Southeast region of the United States, Stacey holds a BA degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Florida, and a MA in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi. She is currently working on an AA in Fine Arts at Central New Mexico Community College. Stacey is the mother of one son, Ian, who also lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Norma CervantesCareer Center Liaison

Norma Cervantes works as the Career Center Liaison for CNM Job Connection Services. As Career Center Liaison, Norma is committed to making communication between CNM students and graduates, employers, and the CNM Job Connection’s team as seamless as possible. Prior to working at Job Connections Services, Norma served as an Information Specialist at the CNM Contact Center, and as Cafe Manager for CNM Bookstores.

A native of southern New Mexico, Norma has resided in the Albuquerque Metro since 2007. She holds several associate degrees from CNM including Communications and Pre-Health Sciences, and is currently working towards completing her Bachelor's Degree in General Studies at New Mexico Tech.

Selena Hardy, Employer Relations Manager

Selena Hardy is the Employer Relations Manager working to connect local employers to CNM students and graduates. Selena believes that we are changing lives and building community. For the past 10 years, she has worked with local nonprofits coordinating community outreach events, peer-to-peer learnings, and program development. At United Way of Central New Mexico, Selena led the Mission: Graduate career readiness initiative connecting hundreds of students with business mentors. At CNM, she facilitates multiple hiring and networking events per semester. Selena has volunteered with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta as a photographer, MS Society, Young Nonprofits Professionals Network, and is an Albuquerque Economic Development Ambassador.

Selena holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with a TESOL endorsement and Linguistics minor from New Mexico State University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from New Mexico State University.

Brenden Kennedy, Career Center Advisor

Brenden grew up in the woods of New Hampshire, left his little town to play college golf, and made the odd decision to obtain a PhD in American History from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). After running a Career Center/Learning Center for two years at a small school in rural Montana, he taught economics for a year at the same school.

He is happy to be working directly with students and alumni at Central New Mexico Community College to secure employment. He views his job as part information hub, part job coach, and part motivator. Please contact him if you have questions about any stage in the job search process.

Carlos Lozoya, Career Center Advisor

Motivated and passionate Career Center Advisor with experience working to advance local workforce initiatives by supporting and educating Job Seekers, Employers, and our Community. Graduate of the University of New Mexico with his Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and Information System. He built his educational foundation by obtaining his associate degree through Central New Mexico Community College.

A proud United States Navy Veteran who was fortunate to serve nine years’ active duty as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He completed four deployments taking him around the globe to several cities in Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and the United States. He was responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining USN helicopters, along with mentoring and preparing junior sailors to meet personal as well as career goals within the US Navy.

Carlos is thrilled to be part of CNM and CNM’s Job Connection Services team! He is looking forward to working with students, existing faculty, and CNM graduates to keep talent in New Mexico.
