Entrepreneurs Ready to Take Their Businesses to Next Level

The IGNITE Community Accelerator's sixth cohort of participants to showcase businesses and products to community May 18

May 03, 2018

The sixth cohort of entrepreneurs from the IGNITE Community Accelerator will celebrate the conclusion of an intensive 10-week program by pitching their companies and demonstrating their products on IGNITE Day. It will take place on May 18 from 3-5 p.m. at the Workforce Training Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The IGNITE Community Accelerator, which is operated by CNM Ingenuity, Inc, is an entrepreneurial accelerator that helps young businesses grow up fast.

Owners of the 10 early-stage companies participating in the accelerator met every Friday for the previous 10 weeks and were immersed in a vigorous and focused “bootcamp” environment filled with curriculum on everything from marketing to prototype development.

The 10 companies were selected from a competitive field of applicants by an Entrepreneurial Advisory Committee made up of local entrepreneurs. To be chosen for the IGNITE Community Accelerator, the companies had to demonstrate potential economic impact on New Mexico. The committee looked for compatibility among the group and how the companies could contribute to each other’s success.

Each company was paired with a business coach who has entrepreneurial experience in a similar field, as well as with community members who are successfully running a business, also in a related field.

IGNITE Community Accelerator services included: 30 hours of one-on-one business coaching; 48 hours of intense business training; access to co-working space at the Workforce Center throughout the 10-week program; access to the FUSE MakerSpace to help with prototype development if needed; support in developing a 100-day tactical plan for the business after the Accelerator is over; and additional coaching after the 10-week program to help with implementation of the 100-day tactical plan.
