Asako Stone: 2015-16 Distinguished Faculty Member Award Winner

Not only is Ms. Stone an outstanding instructor in the School of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, she has been very involved in many college and school initiatives, such as RecycleMania, the E Building collaborative workspace, Liberal Arts assessments, and the online Liberal Arts Fast Track degree program.

Her commitment to excellence in teaching and learning is best exemplified through her efforts in experiential learning, competency-based education, and distance learning. She uses the SCALE-UP model to support student learning and is currently developing experiential learning tools for the online Liberal Arts Fast Track degree program and the upcoming online Psychology degree program. Additionally, Ms. Stone currently serves as a CBE Ambassador, is a certified Distance Learning instructor and a Quality Matters reviewer. Ms. Stone has implemented a Majors Spotlight Lunchtime Series in the School of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences as a strategy to support successful student completion and transfer by connecting students with faculty and staff. Her efforts have increased the number of Associate of Arts in Psychology and Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts degrees earned by students.
