CNM President Kathie Winograd will be the keynote speaker and the student speaker will be Taskeen Naz, an inspiring student. Naz grew up in Pakistan and had to stop going to school at age 14. She came to Albuquerque at age 18 and learned about the GED. Seeing education as the key to a better life for her and her family, she began studying for the GED while at the same time learning English. After earning her GED, she enrolled at CNM.

"I was petrified (about going to college) -- I thought I would get ridiculed," she said. "But I was surprised. CNM people walk you through every step and they care so much for you. The atmosphere has been very friendly. I have always felt safe at CNM."

Naz will be graduating with an associate degree in Paralegal Studies with a 3.6 GPA. She also served an internship at the District Attorney's Office. She plans to transfer to the University of New Mexico and pursue a law degree in either immigration law or international law.

If you are planning to attend the ceremony, please arrive early since there are two other events happening on Saturday at EXPO New Mexico.

It is free admission to Tingley Coliseum for the Graduation Ceremony, but parking is $5 per car (graduates and employees in the procession park free). General parking for graduates, families, supporters and employees who are not participating in the ceremony will be through Gate 8, which is accessible from Louisiana Blvd., just south of Lomas.

Employees who will be participating and wearing regalia in the graduation ceremony should have received a parking pass that provides free access to parking through Gate 3 of EXPO New Mexico, which is accessible from the intersection of San Pedro and Copper.
