CNM Launches New Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Aug 17, 2016

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is an exciting and rewarding career, with opportunities for employment in a variety of settings including hospitals, long-term care and outpatient facilities. PTAs provide care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to restore function to individuals affected by disease or disability. This in-demand profession is well-suited to students with a strong academic background and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

The program is six semesters and culminates in an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant. Graduates will be prepared to take the National Licensing Examination, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, which is required to practice in all states. For more information, visit CNM's PTA website or contact the School of Health, Wellness & Public Safety

Accreditation Process

Effective July 22, CNM has been granted “Candidate for Accreditation” status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: (703) 706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). “Candidate for Accreditation” is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.
