March 2010

After great participation and rave reviews from their first novel slam in the fall, when students and the public read from Bram Stoker's Dracula during the Halloween season, the CNM English Department is now getting into the St. Patrick's Day spirit for its second novel slam. From March 22-25 at the Westside Campus Phase I Rotunda, students, employees and the public are invited to read aloud for 10 minutes at a time from one of two Irish novel classics – Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" or James Joyce's "Dubliners." The event will be an all out Irish festival, complete with Irish music and dancing and participants are welcome to wear costumes. Drop-ins are welcome for 20 minutes before every hour. Help spread the word to students, or reserve a spot for yourself by e-mailing English Department faculty member Vernique Kaemerer at vkaemerer@cnm.edu. Or click here for more info.
