Health Care Premium Increases Take Effect in September

Insurance coverage premiums through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority will be increased 7.77 percent for health care and 6.5 percent for dental starting in September.

Insurance coverage premiums through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority will be increased 7.77 percent for health care and 6.5 percent for dental starting in September. For the high option family coverage, Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage will rise $12 per pay period and Presbyterian will rise $10.70 per pay period for CNM employees. The low option family coverage for BCBS will rise $10.10 per pay period and Presbyterian will rise $9 per pay period.

The increase in single coverage for either of the two plans will be slightly less. The United Concordia dental health plan will rise $1 per pay period for the high or low option for family coverage. CNM pays 75 percent of health premiums for full-time employees making $25,000 or more per year and 80 percent for full-time employees making $24,999 or less.
