The students, all ninth and 10th graders interested in pursuing credentials and careers in the health field, first met with the HWPS student success team that’s comprised of two advisors, an achievement coach and the coordinated entry facilitator. The team led the students through an activity that revealed their strengths and talked to them about what health programs are available at CNM.

They then visited three health programs, including surgical technology, nursing and nursing assistant, where they listened to a mannequin’s heart beat and saw laboratories equipped like hospital rooms.

“The kids were very engaged. They enjoyed seeing what CNM has to offer,” said Tamra Mason, dean of the School of Health Wellness & Public Safety.
