Some AT Faculty Start Fall Term in Renovated Spaces

September 16, 2015 -- Some faculty in the School of Applied Technologies started the Fall Term in greatly improved office space in Ted Chavez Hall, Room 107, on Main Campus. Three rooms were combined and renovated into one large space, enough to accommodate 23 faculty members.

“This is a milestone for Applied Technologies faculty at Main Campus,” said John Bronisz, the school’s dean. “We no longer have any faculty housed in the TC portables. Two of our full-time faculty had their offices in the portables for almost 25 years.”

All the renovation occurred during the Summer Term. TC was built in two phases – in 1973 and 1977.

With the addition of two large windows and a storefront-style door, the space is now light and airy. New, high-efficiency LED lighting contributes to the well-lit feel. In addition to cubicles arranged to facilitate faculty collaboration, there is a break room and a conference room that provides a more private setting. The new configuration also allows AT’s achievement coach and school advisor to be closer to administrative support in the main office.

Five of the 23 cubicles will be reserved for School of Business & Information Technology faculty members when their home building, Smith Brasher Hall, goes under renovation in the Spring Term.

“I want to express my gratitude to CNM administration for approving this master plan project and I want to give a big shout out to CNM Facilities Project Manager Melanie Archibeque for keeping the project on time and ready for occupancy by the start of the Fall Term,” Bronisz said.
