Program Information
The Construction Management program provides you with the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities to contribute effectively to a construction team. Our program objectives are to:
- Serve students with diverse backgrounds. Students hoping to enter the construction industry, students currently working within the industry, and students who have been in the industry for several years and wish to advance their careers by broadening their knowledge and skills.
- Serve students with diverse educational goals. Students whose educational goals are a certificate, an associate degree, or students wishing to transfer to a four-year program.

Accreditation
The Construction Management program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). The Associate degree program is the only accredited ACCE program in New Mexico. Our program is flexible for you to earn a certificate, an associate degree, or graduate from CNM and transfer to a four-year university.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Students who attend the Construction Management program will learn how to:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Estimate quantities and costs for the bidding process in a construction project.
- Schedule a basic construction project.
- Use current technology related to the construction process.
- Interpret construction documents (contracts, specifications, and drawings) used in managing a construction project.
- Apply basic principles of construction accounting.
- Use basic surveying techniques in building layout.
- Discuss basic principles of ethics in the construction industry.
- Identify the fundamentals of contracts, codes, and regulations that govern a construction project.
- Recognize basic construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Recognize basic safety hazards on a construction site and standard prevention measures.
- Recognize the basic principles of structural design.
- Recognize the basic principles of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)
If you have a valid OSHA certification, you can receive credit for courses in the Construction Management program by filling out the Credit for Prior Learning (OSHA) Form.
If you have a valid New Mexico General Building Contractor (GB 98 or GB 2), you can receive credit for a course in the Construction Management Technology program by filling out the Credit for Prior Learning (General Building Contractor) Form.
