Teacher Education Field Experience Information
Teacher Education offers concentrations in Elementary/Special Education and Secondary Education.
Courses within the Teacher Education Program that require field experience include:
EDUC 1120: Introduction to Teaching and EDUC 1190: Teacher Education Practicum
Field Experience Information for Teacher Education Programs
- EDUC 1190 requires students to complete 45 hours of field experience in a K-12 general education and special education classroom during 12 weeks of the term.
- Students will receive an email with information on applying for a field placement after registering for the course.
- All students will are required to fill out an online placement application in order to complete field hours.
- There are limited options for after school hours so students should plan their schedule to allow for observational hours to be completed sometime Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- All students taking this course are required to take and pass a background check. Students are responsible for paying the background check fees. Information about obtaining a background check will be included in the email students receive shortly before the term begins.
