Early Childhood Mentor Network

The Early Childhood Mentor Network (ECMN) supports experienced early childhood teachers interested in mentoring and joining a professional teacher's network in New Mexico.


Contact Us

ECMN is a professional network of early childhood education teachers interested in mentoring the next generation of teachers. We provide opportunities to engage in reflective practice and professional development with colleagues in the field of early childhood, as well as high-quality learning experiences for students on the path to be educators.

We also strive to encourage teacher and director leadership in New Mexico, and create relationships between early childhood higher education and early childhood teachers in the field.

Program Benefits

  • Stipends for mentoring beginning teachers in early childhood education and being a network member
  • Free professional development and learning opportunities
  • Ongoing support from Early Childhood higher education faculty
  • State Mentorship Certificate 
  • Two 3-credit classes on mentorship at no cost: course paid through scholarship and textbooks are provided
  • Networking opportunities with professional educators
  • Membership in an early childhood professional network for teachers and directors

Membership Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education or related field
  • At least 3 year's classroom experience
  • An interest in mentoring early childhood teachers

Mentors are also expected to:

  • Attend monthly mentor network meetings
  • Complete online mentorship training courses for college credit in the first year of membership (Fall and Spring)
  • Host early childhood practicum students and abide by mentor teacher guidelines
  • Complete an online ECERS/ITERS training or provide proof of current training at the time of application

We welcome all early childhood teachers in New Mexico to apply.
