Fall 2020: Modes of Instruction

The Fall 2020 term will be offered primarily online. Learn about the different Modes of Instruction and how to read the Schedule of Classes for them.

Registering for classes is the same process as before COVID-19. If your class requires an in-person component, this will be noted in the Schedule of Classes.

Do not come to campus unless instructed to do so.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CNM's Fall 2020 term will be offered in a primarily online format. Below you'll find information on the various Modes of Instruction and how to read the Schedule of Classes.

We are dedicated to continuing to provide you the same high-quality education and look forward to the Fall 2020 term.

Registration begins:

  • July 2 for continuing students
  • July 6 for new and returning students
  • July 13 for CNM Online / Flex students

Understanding Your Course's Mode of Instruction in the Schedule of Classes

When you find and select a class in the Schedule of Classes, the listed Section Indicators will inform the Mode of Instruction for that class.

Before starting registration, familiarize yourself with this table, the various Modes of Instruction, and the Section Indicators to look for when browsing for classes in the Schedule of Classes.

SECTION INDICATOR MODE OF INSTRUCTION DESCRIPTION ONLINE ON CAMPUS
001, 101, 201, 301, 401, 501 etc. Face-to-Face On-site instruction with regular meeting dates and times. Attendance is taken and participation is based on course activities and your presence during regular dates and times. 0% 100%

R01, R02 etc.

T01, T02 etc.

Real Time Online

Similar to face-to-face, you, your instructor and your classmates will meet remotely at a specific time during the day. This option allows you to attend the class remotely and have the advantage of regular class meetings with the instructor and other students.

Courses indicated as T01, T02 etc. will be a hybrid of scheduled class meetings and an open online classroom environment.

001, 101, 201, 301, 401, 501 etc. Face-to-Face Hybrid On-site instruction with regular meeting dates and times that also include an online component. Typically, a lab/theory mix, so that the lab (hands-on) can be offered face-to-face and the theory can be accomplished online. 50% 50%

These courses are taught completely online in a virtual classroom and you’ll be able to complete your work without stepping foot on a CNM campus. For this reason, the Assessment Center does not proctor Online courses; if you have extenuating circumstances that require the use of the Assessment Center, we will review your request on a case-by-case basis. Attendance is based on participation in course activities.

Note: You may be asked to come to campus in the event our Testing Center re-opens.

A01, A02 etc. Attend Anywhere A course that allows you to attend each class through high-definition video conferencing or by watching recorded lectures. You can move back and forth between these options at any given time during the semester. Attendance is based on participation in course activities. 100% 0%
