Welcome to the December issue of the REACH Student Success newsletter!

The Quickest Way to Graduation: #15toFinish

The Quickest Way to Graduation: #15toFinish

Students who complete 15 credit hours a term or 30 credits in a calendar year graduate faster. How will you get your #15toFinish this spring? Can you add an extra class for spring or take an intersession? Registration for spring and intersession is open now. Register for spring classes before you leave for winter break! See your favorite advisor, Erin Radcliffe, for help. Call 224-3588 to set up an appointment!

REACH Tip

Successful students REACH: they are Resilient, Empowered, Accountable, Curious, and Hopeful.

Curious: Successful students are curious. Curiosity—“the recognition, pursuit, and intense desire to explore novel, challenging, and uncertain events” according to Kashdan and Silvia—is increasingly linked to success in education and life and greater overall happiness. How will your practice curiosity this spring?

Winter

Winter Break

Enjoy some well-deserved time off between terms! Fall classes end 12/9, and CNM’s campuses will be closed from December 19th-January 1st. The SRC and ACE tutoring center will be open from January 2nd on, though, to help students with intersession classes.

Don’t forget to check your CNM email over break in case a section you’re registered for is cancelled and if you’re waitlisted for spring classes.

Transferring?

Winter break is a great time to work on transferring to a four-year institution. If you’re planning on starting at a four-year institution in the fall, make sure to check your institutions’ application and FAFSA deadlines. Priority FAFSA and admissions deadlines for UNM are January 4th. For New Mexico Highlands, the priority FAFSA deadline is March 1st. FAFSA applications are now open and available for next year!

Arts

You’re Invited: CNM’s Art Club

CNM’s art club is dedicated to holding workshops where members have the opportunity to explore techniques and mediums they might otherwise not have access to. We provide the materials, you provide the creativity! All skill levels are welcome; no prior experience in any given medium required, only your enthusiasm to explore the world of art! Please contact Jennifer Woehrle at mjwoehrle@cnm.edu for more information and to join!
