Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test (HOBET)

The HOBET exam measures basic essential skills in the academic areas of Reading (48 questions), Mathematics (34 questions), Science (54 questions), and English and language usage (34 questions).

The HOBET exam is required for these HWPS programs:

  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Veterinary Technology
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Radiology Technology

About the HOBET Exam

  • The exam fee is $35.00 (payable at time of exam)
  • Textbooks, notebooks, paper and children are not allowed in the testing lab
  • Scratch paper is provided and will be collected
  • Students may retest after 24 hours
  • The exam may be given up to 4 hours prior to closing
  • The exam is given at any CNM Assessment Center on a walk-in basis, except South Valley


  • Photo ID
  • Credit card, Debit card or Pre-paid card for $35 fee
