Department Goal and Purpose

Funded 100% by U.S. Department of Education, the goal of TRiO Student Support services is to assist students to graduate from CNM and/or transfer to a four-year institution while fostering an institutional climate that contributes to the success of these and all students.

TRiO support services include: one-on-one academic and career guidance; English, Math, chemistry and biology tutoring, college success workshops and educational activities
Eligibility
To be eligible for TRiO, a student must meet the following criteria:

be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; and
have an academic need while working toward an associate’s degree, or preparing to transfer to a four-year university
In addition, the student must belong to at least one of the following categories:
be part of an income-eligible family;
be a first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian graduated with a degree from a four-year institution);
have a documented disability.
