Assessment Academy
The Assessment Academy aims to assist HLC-accredited institutions with designing and implementing comprehensive strategies for improving program level assessment. Supported by practitioners and scholars, the Academy provides a framework and guidance for developing a customized assessment project focused on best practices in higher education assessment.
There are three main goals to CNM’s Academy program:
- Create a user-friendly system for reporting assessment data and promote data as a tool for change and improvement.
- Use the Universal Themes to serve as a framework for faculty professional development at CNM and to promote faculty understanding of the process of student learning and the role that faculty play in that process
- Develop the role of CNM staff in promoting the Universal Themes as these relate to student activities outside of class (various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as participating in student clubs, internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, community engagement, etc.).

CNM’s Assessment Academy Team has developed a new process for assessing program-level learning outcomes and general education essential skills. The new process is organized in step-by-step tasks and emphasizes making beneficial changes in programs based on assessment data, rather than simply using data to report on current student performance.
