Introduction

Employee Orientation is provided to familiarize new and rehired employees with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) as an organization and to help them feel welcome.  It is designed to impart a uniform understanding of general policies and benefits.

1. General Information

1.1 It is the policy of CNM that all new and rehired employees will, upon hire, receive an orientation from the Human Resources Department.

1.2 Attendance at employee orientation is mandatory for new and rehired employees.

1.3 Employees whose status changes from part-time to full-time will receive written notice that they are eligible to enroll in benefits and may attend orientation to receive information if desired.

1.4 Human Resources delivers an employee orientation program known as Phase I orientation. During the Phase I orientation employees complete employment-related forms, receive benefits information and may complete insurance enrollment forms. Phase I provides an overview of College-wide policies.

1.5 Supervisors of new or rehired employees contact Human Resources to arrange for the employee's participation in the next Phase I orientation.

1.6 Supervisors conduct a Phase II orientation to ensure that the new employee has been provided necessary information at their job site related to job duties and expectations. To ensure that specific points are covered, supervisors may use the Phase II Checklist as a guide.

1.7 New or rehired employees are responsible for contacting Staff Training and Development by phone or email Employee_Training@CNM.edu to schedule other compulsory training discussed in Phase I orientation, including Sexual Harassment Awareness and Hazard Communications training, as soon after the start of their employment as possible.

1.8 Human Resources processes benefits and employment-related forms and then sends them to payroll and other departments concerned with knowing a new employee has been hired.  The following table provides information regarding the distribution of forms:
