About Juneteenth

The Juneteenth holiday commemorates the last African American enslaved people being freed when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. Federal troops were necessary to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation that went into effect more than two years earlier. Juneteenth is the first known widespread celebration of the end of slavery in the country.

CNM is closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in recognition of this federal holiday.

CNM will be hosting a variety of events to celebrate African Americans in our community and across our country. We encourage students, staff, and the community to join.
